Painted in 2013, the paintings in the “VAGUES” series are part of the “CHANTS DE L’AU-DELÀ” series (the “CHANTS DE L’AU-DELÀ” series is presented on the “MUSICAL COMPOSITION AND PAINTING” page of our website).

The paintings in these two series (“CHANTS DE L’AU-DELÀ” and “VAGUES”) are closely linked to the personal dreamlike experiences of the painter-composer Jean-Claude Bossel, experiences on which he wrote an academic dissertation in 2004 for a Diploma of in-depth studies (DEA) from the Universities of Lausanne and Geneva on the theme of “Dreams, modified states of consciousness and artistic creativity”.

In terms of graphic composition, the paintings in the "VAGUES" series are very freely inspired by the famous painting "The Wave" by the Japanese master Hokusai.
